ProTouch Basecoat
ProTouch is a High Quality Low VOC Urethane BaseCoat System designed to provide excellent coverage and color accuracy for Automotive Refinish applications. It is suitable for universal use on all passenger vehicles. All solid, metallic and pearl colors can be mixed with utilizing the ProTouch Formula Retrieval System. When recoated with ProTouch High Performance ClearCoat, the result is a high gloss, weather resistant top coat.

Note:When using other manufacturers Primers & Sealers, refer to their product tech sheets for over and under.
Reducers
- SUR-860 Fast Urethane Reducer - Cool to Cold Temperatures (60-70° F)
- SUR-870 Medium Urethane Reducer - Medium Temperatures (65 - 80° F)
- SUR-885 Medium Urethane Reducer - Warm Temperatures (75 - 90° F)
- SUR-895 Slow Urethane Reducer - Hot Temperatures (85° F and Above)
Note:The 2oz Jar and Spray Cans of ProTouch Basecoat do not require reducer.
Preparations
- Wash painted surfaces thoroughly with soap and water to remove water-soluable contaminations
- Use appropriate cleaner
- Sand with 400-600 grit sandpaper
Mix Ratios
Standard Mix - 1 Part Basecoat: 1 Part SUR-Reducer
Pot Life - No Pot Life
When using our H-5 Series Activators as a Basecoat Activator, use 0.75 ounces per sprayable quart RTS Pot Live is 2 hours when mixed.
Additives
- Fisheye Eliminators are not recommended
- Universal Retarder are not recommended
- Flex additive is not recommended
- Accelerator is not recommended
Air Pressure & Gun Setup
- HVLP: -8-10psi at the air cap
- Compliant: 35-45 psi at the gun
- Gun Setup: 1.2-1.4mm or equivalent
- Approx. Distance: 5"-7"
Application
Apply: 2-3 coats or until hiding is achieved
Total Recommended Dry Film: Do no apply thick film
Dry Times
Between coats:
5-10 minutes at 70deg F with at 1:1 Reducer Mix
10-15 minutes at 70deg F when an H-Series activator is used
Dry times to clearcoat at 70deg F (21deg C) 15-20 minutes. 12-24 hours maximum to clearcoat
Dry times to clearcoat at 70deg F (21deg C) with H-Series Activators - 30 minutes - 4 hours. After 4 hours, basecoat must be scuffed and recoated.
Tape Time:
45-60 minutes at 70deg F (21deg C) when mixing 1:1 with a SUR-Reducer
60 minutes at 70deg F (21deg C) when mixing with H-Series Activator
Note: All striping, 2 toning and clearcoating must be complete within 24 hours. If the basecoat color stage is allowed to dry more than 24 hours, it must be scuffed and new basecoat color applied
Equipment Cleaning
Spray guns, gun cups, storage pots, etc., should be cleaned thoroughly after each use with any appropriate general purpose solvent.

ProTouch Clearcoat 1K (2oz Bottle with Brush - AC8055)
ProTouch 1K Acrylic Clearcoat (AC8055) is a 1K ready to use Acrylic Lacquer Clearcoat. This product is fast curing and exhibits high gloss designed for small repairs like door jambs, interior panels and small accessories. AC-8055 is designed to go over most aftermarket basecoat systems and offers similar UV protection as two component automotive clearcoat but with the convenience of a single component product.

ProTouch 1K (3680058) Clear Acrylic, 10.6oz. 1K clear coat is for quick coating and long term sealing of repair paint jobs and new paint jobs on cars, trucks and motorcycles.
